‘A Beautiful Christmas’  – now available on iTunes and other digital platforms

For years I had bought the odd Christmas album here and there but had never been really happy with any of them, so I finally decided to make my own.  I visualised an album which would feature some of the most beautiful music written for the festive occasion.

Originally it was going to be a purely orchestral presentation. However, during a Carols by Candlelight concert in Wellington I heard Gina Mills singing ‘Silent Night’ and I just had to have her on my album. Back in the day, as Gina Stevens, she had been my first call backing singer when I was producing commercial albums in the studio. Well, one track soon turned into two, then several. I’d also thought that ‘When a Child is Born’ was one of the best Christmas tracks around, but not for Gina, so, bingo! I asked her famous brother Frankie to sing it. Needless to say Frankie sang on several tracks together with a couple of duets with his sister. So my original twelve orchestral tracks got knocked back to two.

But I had the great album I was always wanting……
